Ron Sherar was recently awarded WA Building Surveyor of the Year at the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors 2017 conference. Ron has been a stalwart of the Building Surveying industry. Prior to joining JMG in 2006, he spent 23 years in the public sector as Manager of Building or Principal Building Surveyor (with the City of Belmont, City of Fremantle and the Shire of Kununurra). This was preceded by 15 years as a registered builder, supervisor and registered carpenter.
The award will join a number of career highlights for Ron, but as a passionate AFL fan he is looking forward to completing the Building Surveying and Certification Role on Perth’s New Stadium. This project has been challenging from its inception, but throughout Ron has maintained a commitment to the protection of the users of this facility, despite the commercial pressures on such a development. We recently got to experience the stadium in full swing with an exhibition cricket match – its an incredible facility!
Ron has worked in all sectors and all classes of building projects during his career in both Local government and the private sector which include –
Capital Square Perth, Old Treasury Building Precinct, Kings Square 1,2,3 and 4, Brookfield Place Perth, Joondalup Hospital Redevelopment and 140 William Street Perth
Ron has been a tireless contributor to the Building Surveying Industry for over 30 years. His commitment to the profession is without peer both from a professional conduct and industry gatekeeper view point. JMG staff were pleased to see Ron’s work recognised by the AIBS at the recent award ceremony.
Congratulations from everyone at JMG Ron!
