Building Surveyor of the Year Award 2017


Ron Sherar was recently awarded WA Building Surveyor of the Year at the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors 2017 conference. Ron has been a stalwart of the Building Surveying industry. Prior to joining JMG in 2006, he spent 23 years in the public sector as Manager of Building or Principal Building Surveyor (with the City of Belmont, City of Fremantle and the Shire of Kununurra). This was preceded by 15 years as a registered builder, supervisor and registered carpenter.

AIBS Student of the Year 2016


Congratulations Steve on the WA Student of the Year AIBS award! Steve has been studying at Central Queensland University for his B.Sc. of Building Surveying whilst working full time. Whilst maintaining a distinction average he has also been exposed to some significant projects and is currently on the team for the redevelopment of the Perth Museum. John Massey, our founder, also collected this award in 1989.

Developing the Talent Pool


With Western Australia finally establishing building legislation 2012 there was a large influx in the private building surveying market space. Mainly consisting of former Local Government employees the Building surveying landscape would be changed forever. Given the development of this market place, as a business we are “always recruiting”. But where were the building surveyors of the future to come from? In recent times JMG has looked to university students studying in the construction sector.
